BC has beautiful summers and with kids out of school at the end of June it’s no wonder July and August are very busy at campgrounds across beautiful British Columbia.
For those that can start the camping season early in 2024 this blog will highlight 5 of the best reasons to book your next South Cariboo camping trip in May or June!
REASON 1- AVAILABILITY!
Campgrounds often have ample sites available in May and June and with more availability also comes less people and more quiet. So if you don’t want to have to book your camping trip a year in advance or if you want to avoid the crowds to enjoy a quieter camping experience you should definitely book your next South Cariboo camping trip in May or June.
REASON 2 - NO FOREST FIRES!
Forest fires are a new reality in BC and can really impact your campground vacations in July and August. It’s very unusual for forest fires to be a problem in May and June in BC, which means peace of mind and no smoke in the air. BC's South Cariboo is known for it's clean air and blue sky's!
REASON 3 - CAMPFIRES ALLOWED!
One of the best parts of camping is gathering around the campfire. Whether your roasting hotdogs, making s’mores or just enjoying the beautiful cariboo evenings a campfire makes everything better! It’s highly unusual for campfire bans to be in place in May or June, where as campfire bans in July and August are becoming commonplace.
REASON 4 - WEATHER!
While the weather in May and June is less predictable than July and August late spring and early summer is becoming nicer and warmer in BC’s southern cariboo region. You’ll want to pack your sweatshirt and your t-shirt, your joggers and your swimsuit, your sunglasses and your rain jacket.
There are campers that spring camp in the cariboo in the hopes to experience a fast and furious cariboo storm. These storms are often short and intense and create some beautiful skies.
There's a fitting saying in the cariboo:
“If you don’t like the weather, just wait 5 minutes”
If the 2024 season is similar to the 2023 season campers will be enjoying some of the nicest weather of the entire season in late May and all of June.
REASON 5 - FISHING!
While the fish bite all season long, the month of June can be singled out as the best month for fishing in BC's southern cariboo! If you're booking a fishing trip and you’re wanting to ensure you have a hot rod you should stack the deck and book your next camping trip in June.
